IDW have today announced plans to release tabletop games based on the hit BBC series Orphan Black, with the first arriving in Summer 2015.
Orphan Black: The Card Game will be the first to hit stores around July this year. Players will be secretly assigned to one of three teams; the Proletheans, Neolutionists, or the Bird Watchers. The goal of the game is to influence as many clones into joining your faction as possible, while also keeping your opponents guessing as to which of the three factions you’re really working for. If you can keep other players in the dark while secretly exerting influence on your targets, you’ll come out on top. IDW aim to capture the essence of the TV show by creating a state of constant uneasiness of not knowing who to trust during the game, while providing a strategic depth of play which appeals to the most avid board gamers.
“We’re extremely pleased about expanding our partnership with IDW” says John Young, Managing Director of Temple Street Productions. “We’re very excited about the new Orphan Black tabletop games which give our fans the opportunity to spend more time in the Orphan Black world they love and share that experience with friends.”
IDW also plan to release a boardgame too, but no further details are available at the moment.
